Dandasana is the foundation of seated forward bends, and incorporates the alignment necessary for all sitting postures. Danda is a staff—the symbol of the power of an enlightened being, and the energy of self-awakening that resides in each of us. It’s also a reference to the spine, highlighting the importance of integrated strength through the core of the body.
