In today’s fast paced anxiety-driven world, we can learn to stand with courage, compassion, and grace. Standing yoga poses are a total body-awakening practice. Even a short sequence of standing asanas can help us find stability and balance, open up where we’re compressed, strengthen where we’re weak, dispel tension, awaken where we are dull, and increase resilience in the entire body. Activating the legs and reclaiming the breath can improve postural alignment, and alleviate back pain and tension in the neck and shoulders. Then we can face the world with courage and grace, and in the words of Rumi, “become a greater kindness.”
